Rules for keeping American Home Range useful, trustworthy, and welcoming.
1. The Golden Rule
Treat others with courtesy. Personal attacks, harassment, name-calling, and unnecessary arguments may be removed. Disagreement is allowed; disrespect is not.
2. Keep Posts Relevant
Posts should relate to local or regional agriculture, locally raised food, livestock, farm products, fiber, processors, backgrounding, feeding, finishing, agricultural services, events, classes, or direct producer-to-buyer and producer-to-producer connections.
American Home Range™ promotes and supports local agricultural activities and direct agricultural connections. Listings for firewood, locally grown flowers, fresh seasonal greenery, Christmas trees, natural harvest decorations, and agricultural visits are welcome.
AHR also welcomes advertisements for corn mazes, pumpkin patches, hayrides, and agricultural fall festivals. Listings must accurately represent the agricultural goods, services, or activities being offered.
It is prohibited to label or present an exclusively non-agricultural event, service, or item as an agricultural activity in order to advertise it on AHR. For example, the terms “Fall Festival” or “Harvest Festival” may not be used to advertise Halloween parties, trick-or-treating, haunted houses, haunted trails, or other Halloween or horror-themed promotions. These promotions are not permitted on AHR.
Altered spellings, symbols, images, links, or other means of disguising prohibited content may not be used to evade this rule. Members are encouraged to report suspected violations through Contact Us or by emailing [email protected].
3. Be Clear About What You Offer
Include your location, what is available, expected timing, pricing or pricing method when possible, and important details about how a product was raised, grown, processed, inspected, licensed, or legally offered.
4. Buyer Requests Are Welcome
Buyers may post what they are looking for. Include your general location, the product and amount wanted, important preferences, and how far you are willing to travel.
5. Follow Current Laws
Sellers and service providers are responsible for complying with applicable federal, state, tribal, and local requirements involving processing, inspection, labeling, direct sales, animal ownership, dairy, eggs, poultry, produce, cottage foods, or other products.
6. Transactions Stay Between Members
American Home Range does not buy, sell, inspect, process, store, transport, finance, broker, guarantee, or take possession of products. Payments, ownership terms, service agreements, and transactions are handled directly between members.
7. Describe Products and Services Honestly
Accurately represent animals, crops, products, raising or growing practices, processing status, prices, availability, capacity, inspection or licensing status, and pickup or delivery arrangements.
8. No Spam or Unrelated Advertising
Relevant businesses that directly serve producers, processors, or local-food buyers may participate. Repetitive promotion, unrelated advertising, link dumping, and spam may be removed.
9. Use Special Claims Carefully
Do not use claims such as USDA inspected, organic, grass- finished, pasture-raised, pesticide-free, hormone-free, regenerative, raw, or similar designations unless the description is accurate and lawful.
10. Respect Privacy and Safety
Do not post another member's private contact information, payment details, home address, or private messages without permission. Use reasonable care when arranging pickups, farm visits, payments, and animal transfers.
11. Keep Listing Conversations Helpful
Public questions and producer replies are welcome when they relate to the advertised product or service. Be courteous and allow the producer to answer. Do not use another person’s listing to promote competing offers, argue about prices, or post unrelated criticism.
You may share your own contact information, product prices, and pickup, delivery, payment, or other purchase terms. Do not share another person’s private information without permission. Keep sensitive payment information and confidential details in private messages.
Administrators may moderate comments or close a discussion when needed.
12. American Home Range Is a Connection Service
The community helps people find one another but does not independently verify every listing, seller, buyer, processor, business, claim, or product. Members must do their own due diligence.
13. Community Moderation
AHR administrators may hide or remove posts that violate these rules or the How to List & Sell guidelines, send private warnings, restrict or suspend participation, or deactivate accounts for repeated or serious violations. Serious violations may result in immediate action. Members may contact AHR privately with questions about a moderation decision.
Contact information and specific locations shared through listings or profiles are visible only to signed-in members, even when the producer chooses to share them. Keep those details out of public titles, previews, and images.
By participating, members agree to follow these rules and any additional rules posted for their local community.
