The Story Behind
American Home Range

Hello, I’m Leah—a mother, nurse, homesteader, and U.S. Army Nurse Corps veteran with a heart for the people who work hard to raise our food, grow our crops, and produce the agricultural goods we use—and for the families who depend on what they offer.

American Home Range began with a simple thought: families want an easier way to discover local producers, and producers need a better way to reach the people interested in what they offer.

Many families want to know that the food they bring home was raised or grown here in America. Connecting directly with local ranchers and farmers gives buyers opportunities to ask questions, learn who produced their food and where, and understand how it was raised or grown. Those conversations can help families choose American-raised and American-grown products with greater confidence.

Whether you’re looking for fresh eggs, locally raised beef, wool for your next project, or a nearby agricultural service, finding what’s available shouldn’t have to mean searching through scattered posts or already knowing the right people.

And whether you raise a small backyard flock, operate a family homestead, or carry on generations of ranching and farming, you deserve a place where prospective customers can discover your work.

For local agriculture to thrive, producers need customers, and families need to know how to find and contact them.

Every local purchase helps create demand that supports the economic sustainability of local and family-owned farms and ranches. By connecting producers with local buyers, we can help strengthen our communities’ agricultural independence and preserve food freedom for future generations.

That is the heart behind American Home Range: making those connections easier. Buyers and producers are equally at the heart of this project. Each needs the other, and both deserve a useful, respectful place to connect.

I’m growing this project around work, family, and caring for my small homestead.

My Christian faith is at the heart of how I want to live and serve others. As much as I care about helping families find food for their tables, I also want to share the hope I have in Jesus Christ, who called Himself the Bread of Life.

I believe Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and that forgiveness and eternal life are gifts of God’s grace, received through faith in Him. My earnest hope is that His love and compassion would shine through this work and that whatever grows from it would point people toward Jesus.

Jesus answered, “I Am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst.” - John 6:35

My goal is to keep American Home Range free for everyone to join, post, and connect. Your recommendations and word-of-mouth invitations help more people find their place here—and make the network more useful for everyone.

Thank you for helping this community take root.
